The Much Anticipated Phone of the Year Has Finally Arrived – SAMSUNG Galaxy S IV

It was a great day in New York. This day was 14th March 2013, when Samsung introduced its latest technological marvel, the Samsung Galaxy S IV. The event was a huge hit. Thousands of people were entertained by a live orchestra. Samsung invited seventeen actors to display the amazing features of this phone in a series of theatrically scripted performances.

Considering the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, we knew that the S4 wasn’t going to be small. With dimensions of 69.8mm x 136.6mm and 7.9mm thick, it’s surprisingly thinner than the S3 and feels far from big to hold. Weighing it at 130g, it’s heavier than the iPhone 5 (112g) and lighter than Sony Xperia Z (146g). But, the extra heft of Samsung Galaxy S4 gives a reassuring feel in the hand. Read more at (

Some of the great features in Samsung’s Galaxy S4 are:

  • A big 5-inch HD screen with 440 PPI
  • A 13-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 2-megapixels camera, including new features such as Dual shot and Drama Shot.
  • Exynos OCTO 1.6 Ghz processor with 2 GB RAM

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is the latest innovation from Samsung. Samsung has managed to build a bigger 5 inch HD screen into a body slightly smaller than its previous Galaxy S3 phone. The Galaxy S4 has certain features that will give tough competition to Blackberry as well. This new Flagship phone from Samsung has all the required specifications that can give tough competition to Apple’s iPhone 5 and could easily become the king of all the Android powered Smartphones.

Android – Leading the Smartphone App. World

In the recently conducted 4-day Mobile World Congress 2013, it was clear to all the Smartphone developing industries that this is going to be a highly competitive year for them. With almost every Smartphone being technically flawless, the pressure falls to the application developers. The latest ABI Research predicts that Smartphone app downloads would reach around 56 billion in 2013. According to the research data:

  • Android’ leads with its 58 percent share in the app world.
  • In second place, there is ‘iOS’ which has a share of 33 percent.
  • Windows phone has secured around a 4 percent share.
  • And finally, BlackBerry is at 3 percent.

ABI also predicts a growing number of Smartphone-focused developers will adopt an Android-first strategy within the year due to the platform’s “vast installed base and the generally improved conditions in app building.” This is something that has been widely trumpeted for a while now but has yet to surface given Google’s fragmentation problem.

We can assume that Google will actually benefit from Android being the front runner in app development. Android’s open design and easily re-programmable firmware has prompted the app developers to work more extensively towards customized apps. It has provided the developers an open ground to work on. They can make their customers a more user friendly interface which can be restructured and upgraded any time. This kind of flexibility from Android has attracted a large number of people. Thus, making the Android powered Smartphone a success.

HTC Zoe – A new image sense system that captures a 3 second picture to give the feel of an animated picture.

Sony’s Xperia Z – Teasing our Patience

Sony- One of the biggest names in the electronics industry is steadily but swiftly re-establishing itself in this rapidly evolving smartphone age. They were facing imminent danger of becoming irrelevant after manufacturing archaic phones with obsolete hardware. However, Sony recently staged a strong comeback with conviction by announcing their latest addition to the Smartphone family (Sony’s Xperia Z ) at the International Consumer Electronics Show in January.

This new Phone is now being highly anticipated by the people. Xperia Z stands tall over all the phones in its competition with an upgraded operating system, Android 4.1 Jelly bean. Xperia Z is one of the first Sony Smartphones to have the latest Android OS on board. People are growing impatient just to have a look at this new innovation.

An interesting feature of the Sony Xperia Z is that it’s actually a rugged phone. The handset is IP57 certified with the 5 meaning that it’s protected against dust, and 7 meaning that you can immerse it in up to 3 feet / 1 meter of water, for up to about 30 minutes. Such rugged features are usually reserved for lower-class, niche type of Smartphones, but we’re glad that Sony is trying to shake things up here by making its top Smartphone that much more resistant to the forces of nature. According to Business Insider, Apple will release an iPhone 5S in June, which is a break from its well-known pattern over the last two years, said Jefferies analyst Peter Misek in a note earlier in December. Misek also predicted that it would come in 6-8 colors, similar to the iPod Touch. The report said that Horace Dediu at Asymco had an interesting theory why Apple would speed up its release cycle. “This year, Apple’s sales dipped significantly two quarters before the launch of a new iPhone. Consumers held off because they knew a new phone was coming. Apple wants to avoid loading all its sales in one half of the year. By accelerating its product releases it can avoid his problem,” Business Insider pointed out.
