Getting Through Your Government Assisted Cell Phone

A cell phone today is the prerequisite for each and every person today to stay connected with friends and families. Even for business and work today, people are highly dependent on telephone communications. There is now a Government Assistance Cell Phone program called Lifeline, under which the qualified people would receive a Free Government Assisted Cell Phone. This program is available in all the states but each state has different qualifying criteria. Under this Government Assisted Cell Phone program, the person receives a free handset free minutes (anywhere from 60 to 250 per month depending on the state), facility to send and receive text messages, access voice mail and call 911.

For the states of Arkansas, Nevada, Illinois, Oklahoma, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Rhode Island, Louisiana, Texas, Maryland, Washington, Missouri and West Virginia, the applicant can qualify for the program if they are participating in any of the federal government assistance programs like Medicaid, Food Stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), or National School Lunch Program (NSLP). You can also qualify based on your household income being at or below 135% of the federal poverty level.
